Maybe it’s the fact that I’m only 5’1, but I’ve always had a miniature fixation. I’ve even been to a few museums specializing in the subject, and the experience is generally heavenly. Add to that my love of fake food—think plastic sushi displays, fake meat in the freezer at an appliance store, or those faux sundaes they always have in old-timey ice cream parlors—and you can imagine how I felt when I saw Jessica Hlavac’s I’m So Tiny site.
Okay, I’ll tell you: insanely excited. I mean, look at my blog header–I’m really into little food!

Jessica is an extraordinary miniature artist who specializes in super-duper-itty-bitty food. Her work is meticulously detailed and almost unreal. She makes burgers, baguettes, twinkies, pies, and tacos that take up less space than a quarter or even a blueberry! Yes, my heart is thumping wildly, what of it?
As an early Christmas gift to myself, I just bought Jessica’s I’m So Tiny 2011 calendar—twelve whole months of mini food! The photos are very minimalist (no pun intended) and sort of serene with their still, gray background. They’ll be a treat to look at every day–I can’t wait for that cheese plate in November!
You can buy the calendar here, and check out Jessica’s print at her Etsy store.
Bon Appetit.

p.s. My dream is for Jessica to make an entire miniature scene—maybe a restaurant or a bakery. I can hardly contain myself.
