Eagle Rock: A Cream Puff Confession à la Ruby Bakery
Apr 04 2012 · 5 comments · Desserts, Eagle Rock
Uh, what just happened?
All I know is that my friend Mari came over with a pink box from Ruby Bakery in Eagle Rock. Inside, were two plump and precious cream puffs.
When I laid eyes on them, I told myself I’d just take a bite and save the rest for after dinner. No big deal.
So, I picked it up and inspected it. Clouded in powdered sugar with whipped cream peaking out of the light, golden pastry, it was almost too pretty to eat.
But I took a bite anyway. The cream was so fluffy, silky and rich, and the pastry was delicate and eggy. It was too irresistible to stop, so I took another bite.
So, why stop there? It was just too luscious to stop. Dare I say luxuriously luscious. I continued until there wasn’t even a drop of cream to be found, but I did save the other one for my husband, who held off eating his ’til dessert time came.
At least someone in this house has some restraint.
